IRIS Nights Lecture Series Presents: "Perspectives" with Kirk McKoy & Genaro Molina
Come see reflections of our great city, Los Angeles, through the eyes of renowned Los Angeles Times photographers Kirk McKoy & Genaro Molina. This week the free Thursday evening lecture series, IRIS Nights, offers the "perspective" of two great artists instead of one.
Kirk D. McKoy is the Senior Features Photo Editor and Deputy for the Los Angeles Times. He has been a photojournalist for over 28 years, and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, for his work covering the Los Angeles riots in 1992 and the Northridge earthquake in 1994. He is the man behind the day-to-day photographic look of the Los Angeles Times.
Genaro Molina built his career shooting for publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, and the Sacramento Bee, before joining the staff of the Los Angeles Times in 1995. He has won numerous awards, including the California Photographer of the Year. His work tells human interest stories that celebrate the diversity of Los Angeles, and the city in transition. Together they will share their great expertise and tales of working on our streets, capturing the community for the Times.
While some space will be saved for walk in guests, we strongly recommend that anyone interested in attending register for a seat in advance. To register and for information about future exhibits please visit our website: www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org
Previous IRIS Nights lectures included (see pictures at left) Douglas Kirkland, Greg Gorman, Catherine Opie, Juergen Nogai and Wim de Wit, Lauren Greenfield, Patrick Ecclesine, and Helen K. Garber.
Don't forget to celebrate Father's Day on June 21. In honor of all dads, Photography Space staff will be taking digital family portraits on Sunday. Snapshots will be emailed to guests following their visits. Visitors can also enjoy free freshly baked cookies.
The current exhibit L8S ANG3LES will be presented through June 28, 2009. Admission is free.
PLEASE NOTE: The Annenberg Space for Photography will then be closed from June 29 through July 10, 2009, to allow for the installation of the next exhibit, Pictures of the Year International (POYi).
