IRIS Nights Lecture Series Presents: "Where Dreams and Reality Collide" with Patrick Ecclesine
The Annenberg Space for Photography continues the hugely popular free Thursday night lecture series, IRIS Nights, with an exciting presentation from Patrick Ecclesine this Thursday, June 4th.
Patrick spent the last five years photographing and interviewing all walks of life along Sunset Boulevard -- "The Boulevard of Dreams" -- for Faces Of Sunset Boulevard, A Portrait Of Los Angeles, which was named the top photography book of 2008 by Shutterbug Magazine. Described as a "leap forward in social documentary photography" and "as compelling as any novel," Faces Of Sunset Boulevard made popular top 20 book lists like the NY Post, as well as several acclaimed non-fiction lists that had never before included a photography book on their roster.
For this lecture "Where Dreams and Reality Collide," Patrick will discuss his imagery, and share the his process, and how he persuaded Police Chief Bratton, Governor Schwarzenegger, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and others to pose for him.
Previous IRIS Nights lectures included (see pictures at left) Douglas Kirkland, Greg Gorman, Catherine Opie, Juergen Nogai and Wit de Wim, and most recently, Lauren Greenfield.
While some space will be saved for walk in guests, we strongly recommend that anyone interested in attending register for a seat in advance. Due to the great popularity of these evenings, we have been brimming to capacity.
Two more lectures are scheduled in June; Helen K. Garber's Urban Noir LA/NY on June 11th, and Perspectives with Kirk McKoy and Genaro Molina of the L.A. Times on June 18th.
