Workshops
In addition to the IRIS Nights Lecture Series, the Annenberg Space for Photography will also feature special workshops offered by the exhibiting photographers and experts in the field. These workshops will allow professional and amateur photographers alike to benefit from hands-on instruction in an intimate setting with a world-class teacher. Subjects will range from introductory digital photography workshops to master-class settings for established photographers. Check the calendar for upcoming workshops and reserve your space; these events are limited seating and will fill up on a first-come-first-serve basis.Workshop Schedule:
Renowned as one of the world’s premiere surf photographers, Art Brewer will lead this specially designed workshop focusing on action surf photography and all of its’ elements.This intensive one-day course is not only a unique opportunity to learn the technical skills and equipment necessary to shoot surfing and other water related sports, but also acts as an opportunity to become immersed in a day in the life of Art Brewer.
The workshop will take place on site at the Annenberg Space for Photography and will be demonstration based using a multitude of media including video, slides, prints and a selection of equipment that is pertinent to the surf industry.
Topics covered:• You will be shown behind the scenes video of a recent trip and the corresponding images that were taken.
• Art will review what equipment he is currently using and why.
• He will also show you secrets of the trade.
• You will learn the ins and outs of the industry.
• Ask a legend everything that you have been wondering about the surf and photography industries and how they interact.
The day of activities aspires to heighten creativity and enlighten the participant’s experience of surfing and recognize the special tribe of athletes that have been a very intimate group of individuals until recent years.
