Los Angeles native Matthew Rolston’s photography career began at Interview magazine where he was discovered by Andy Warhol. Since then, he has photographed for magazines like Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, W and many others. Rolston has also directed films, music videos, television commercials.
Rolston will present numerous examples of his work, both in still photography and the moving image, and will engage in a lively discussion of his thoughts, philosophy and practices in regard to beauty and photography. Rolston believes that true beauty really comes from an inner light. The intersection of beauty and light are his main areas of creative interest.
Recently, Rolston has begun to expand into brand creation and hospitality design. For example, he recently conceived an entirely new hotel brand, The Redbury, for innovative Los Angeles-based restaurant and hospitality developer Sam Nazarian.
Joining him in the discussion will be best selling author and internationally renowned fashion, culture and entertainment journalist Merle Ginsberg, the current editor-in-chief of FashionRules.com, a Hollywood fashion website and a senior writer for the Hollywood Reporter magazine and website.
