DISTANCE LEARNING TOOLS FOR EDUCATORS
While the Annenberg Space for Photography is temporarily closed, we continue to offer educational resources, tools and support for educators like you preparing for distance teaching.
We have identified 10 documentaries from past exhibitions that teachers can license. If you are interested in gaining access to one of these documentaries, please download and fill out this form. Should you license a film, we can also provide you a series of engagement questions and the opportunity for a virtual 30-minute chat with one of our ASP team members.
Exploring DIY Publishing: Zine-making at Home
Working with our partners at Art Life Practice, we hosted a set of virtual zine-making workshops, and we’re delghted to share the materials with you for self-guided creativity. Click here to view inspirational materials, our resource guide, and a recorded video from a live zine-making workshop.
Plan Your Visit
We’re proud to offer guided tours for students and private groups to further enhance your visit to the Photography Space. Group size is recommended at 20 to 30 visitors, and up to two groups of 25 can be accommodated during one scheduled visit. Below are links to all past Education Resource Guides and Annenberg Learner’s Essential Lens. Created for each exhibition, the Resource Guides provide hours of curricula and assignments for students to take home or conduct online. These free resources include curriculums for the classroom, in-gallery activities for students, and more.
Essential Lens is a free multidisciplinary professional development resource for middle and high school teachers from Annenberg Learner. Essential Lens provides everything a teacher needs to begin using photographs to engage students and deepen understanding of a range of subjects. Essential Lens resources include:
- More than 250 photographs rights-cleared for classroom use
- Eleven curated photo collections with background text and detailed classroom activity plans linked to national curriculum standards
- An introductory video demonstrating Focus In, a step-by-step process for analyzing photographs
- Four videos that document the work of photographers, filmmakers and photo editors and demonstrate a guided analysis of photography
- Support materials including a glossary of photographic terms and additional photographic resources
